Black Manta is a fictional and cartoon character that has been playing role of super villain in various stories and comics.

This is story of a boy who grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and became first black manta. He loved to play in sea but once he was kidnapped, raped and brutally forced to work against his will. He tried to escape out of that hell but he was unable to do so but his courage led him up and he decided to do this in his own way and while defending himself, he killed one of his enemies and now this boy had different perception about life with by hating this sea and living a life with his own point of view.

Both Black Manta and Aquaman battled repeatedly for some year. Later on it was revealed that Black Manta was African America and he had objective to lead black people prominent to sea that had been deprived for long period of time. The basic goal of his life was to defeat Aquaman and his allies.

Later old Black Manta made a trade with Neron by selling his soul and getting more power from him and now finally transformed himself in Manta/Man Hybrid. He started to wear a new costume that had completely covered his originality and more shattered personality.

Later on, Black Manta was used as a test subject to make water breathers, using genetic manipulation. This succeeded and since then Black Manta has returned to the oceans to face Aquaman once again.
