The range of salaries to be earned whilst working in a call centre is massive. If you are just starting off and are new to the world of call centres you may only be earning about 12K to 15K a year. This is the typical salary of an inbound customer service agent.
Of course, if you are starting off working as a Sales Agent in a call centre your potential earnings could be significantly higher. Some sales agents can earn up to an extra £30 a day through commission alone. Of course you need to be confident and have excellent communication skills to earn your potential commission.
If you really succeed in your job in a call centre, you may be promoted to a Team Leader position. Team Leaders have a challenging job in a call centre environment. They are responsible for motivating the team, making sure targets are hit and keeping an eye on productivity. Team leaders can potentially earn up to 25K, depending on the company or the amount of responsibility given. Team leaders in a call centre often have a lot of pressure put on them to make sure their team is working towards targets; this means that they will often get the blame if the team fails to do this, and this is why some companies will pay handsomely for their team leaders.
Climbing even further up the ladder in the call centre world is the role of a Call Centre Manager. The duty of a Call Centre Manager is to make sure everything is running smoothly, and also to provide support for the Team Leaders. This role also puts a lot of pressure on you to make sure everyone is being productive and hitting targets.
Working as a Call Centre Manager you can potentially earn up to 35K a year. Obviously if you are working for a very small company with only a small team of agents, the salary would be considerably lower. Some Call Centre managers are trusted with a lot more, for example the recruitment process. Although most companies will have a HR Department who will deal with recruitment, some companies will involve the Call Centre manager in the interview process.
